Macie's New Tricks

Here's Macie performing at her best.....She learned how to say "cheese" at Dawn's house and we think we've just about got all of her body parts down pat! Enjoy!

"SAY CHEESE!"

"WHERE'S MY.......?"

A hike on the end of the Earth....

Well, it's on the eastern shore of the island, anyway! We took a hike to see the Makapu'u lighthouse on the Windward side of the island on Monday, since we had the day off for President's Day. Here we are at the bottom of the hill, getting ready to go straight to the top. Luckily we got to take a lot of breaks on the way up....there are a TON of whales on that side of the island , and they were very very active, giving us lots to see!

Emerson the explorer is all set to go with her binoculars in hand to see all the whales! (How cute does she look?)

I think she's spotted something waaaaaaaaaay out in the ocean! (or maybe not!)

There's the lighthouse, and our explorers! We still have a little way to go before we reach the top of the mountain. The lighthouse is not all the way at the top (like we thought), but rather sits nestled on the side of the mountain!

Here's Emerson at the very top. Mommy and Macie are down on the flatter part of the top having a snack and letting Macie air out after sitting in the stroller in the hot sun for the walk up. Wish we had more pics to share, but in true fashion, the camera decided not to work. I guess we should be thankful we got as many pics as we did! It usually likes to die at the beginning of an adventure! We can add this trip to our tour for any adventurers that want to experience it! Let us know!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Here's a couple of pics of the girls from Valentine's Day. Macie is getting the hang of digging into present bags, as you can see! Emerson had a fun day at school -- it was pajama day and everyone, even the teachers and the principal, wore their pajamas!

Emerson is learning how to hoola-hoop so we thought we'd get her one to see how she does! Not bad!

Sea Life Adventure

A couple of weekends ago we went to Sea life Adventure Park. We got to see lots of sea animals, like dolphins and sting rays, turtles and sea lions, and lots and lots of fish. We had lots of fun and plan to go back before we leave here so we can swim with the dolphins.....how cool!

Emerson at the touch pool looking at a sea star. She thought she wanted to touch it, but decided against it!

Macie's not so sure about the turtle, either!

We spent most of our day at the Hawaiian waters reef tank. It has so many neat fish in it. We just kept watching the turtles and sting rays and sharks come by. It was very cool! There was a blowfish that seemed to be following Emerson.....every time we moved to a different window, he would show up and "stare" at her!

Nana & Grandpa come for a visit!

Eric's parents arrived for a visit in January. They have become quite the world travellers as of late, having traveled to Germany in November to see Mark and his family. They arrived safe and sound in Hawaii and were greeted by Emerson and Macie (and Eric) with leis.

After a good night's rest, Eric got everyone up and started the tour with a stop at the Dole plantation.

Taking a ride on the Pineapple Express at the Dole Plantation

Enjoying the shade from a Banyan tree outside the Honolulu Zoo, across from Waikiki Beach

Taking a break from the zoo with some yummy shave ice!

Grandpa and Macie are exploring the guinea pig house and tunnels at the zoo.

On Thursday, we went to a luau. The food was good, the entertainment was great and we even met a great couple from Australia who had a little boy who kept Emerson entertained!

T.R. getting up close and personal with one of the performers at the luau!family pic....

On Friday, Eric took the girls to school and daycare, and took his parents to the Arizona memorial (it is definitely much easier and much less stressful to do this without children!)

On Saturday, everyone (except me, of course, b/c I had to work) went to the Ala Moana beach park and had a picnic lunch and enjoyed playing games in the park. Looks like a lot of fun!

Sunday was a fun adventure day.....Whale Watch! Wales come from Alaska to Hawaii every winter to have babies and mate and stay away from the frigid waters of the north. We saw several whales while we were on the cruise. It was a lot of fun!

Our ship for the Whale Watch - the Star of Honolulu

Grandpa taking the girls on one of several walks during the week! I'm sure he was worn out when he got back to Mississippi!

On the last day Eric's parents were here, they took a driving tour of the Windward, or east, side of the island. Here, you can see T.R. has ventured waaaaaay out on the cliffs and is standing on the edge of the island!

We really had a good visit and enjoyed showing Tom and Jonnie the island. We are getting pretty good at the tour guide gig. That's a hint for anyone that wants to come for a visit! Aloha!!
